Life Isn’t Like Curling

There’s an Olympic sport called “Curling” that involves bumpy ice, a smooth stone and some vigorous “sweepers” - who try to smooth out the path in front of the stone so it can travel farther and straighter.

In our lives there's always going to be bumpy stuff that comes up for us. And, if we don’t feel mentally, emotionally, spiritually or physically prepared and are not equipped to do what it takes to “sweep in front of our own stone” we’re going to be left feeling stuck, stressed, anxious or depressed, and like life is too much to manage or too challenging to overcome the obstacles in our way.

By getting our minds into alignment with the reality that life is going to be hard sometimes and understanding that there will be difficult hours or days, we can learn to accept that it’s all a part of the whole being human experience.

Today on The Karen Kenney Show, we’re talking about the difficulties we often encounter in life and how it’s a pretty normal part of the human experience to go through them. The key words here being, “go through”.

The truth is, we all can build the foundation necessary to withstand hard times, not only underneath us, but all around us. So that when we find ourselves bumping up against these harder days and or moments, we don't just have to sit back and wish somebody else would come to save us or rescue us.

We can step up to the plate, get “sweeping” on our own behalf and get done what needs to be done.
